Teaching Sample 3 (Lesson 6, Part 2): Questioning with Literacy
In this class, we reviewed different types of questions, focusing primarily on "right there" and "think and search" questions related to a text about Peg and her experiences with polio in the final chapter of "Small Steps: How I Got Polio". We analyzed specific passages, discussing Dorothy's feelings about leaving the hospital and returning to school, as well as Peg's use of the word "cocoon" to describe their stay at Sheltering Arms. The lesson leads into an exercise on noticing and wondering about their experience with the story. Student Teaching 2 (4th Grade)
