what is success

Hard work, perseverance, focus - this is what I used to think were the ingredients for success. But after becoming an entrepreneur myself, going through the journey, and understanding the up’s and down’s, I’ve come to a new conclusion: Being successful is being grateful. Surprising right? When I was younger, I was all about discipline, focus, determination. But I’ve come to realize that you’ll never be or feel successful if you’re not grateful and thankful for all that you have, all that you’ve accomplished, and how far you’ve come. I came to this realization one night when I was chatting with my boyfriend about Asia Wedding Network, saying how I feel we can do more of this, how we can put more effort on that, how we should be building bigger and faster, etc. He said to me, “don’t you ever step back and look at how far you’ve come in such a short period of time?” The truth is, I never did. I was so focused on achieving more, becoming bigger that I completely lost sight of what we’ve already accomplished. And this got me thinking, why am I always chasing that next thing? Am I always going to be chasing things my whole life? When will I ever stop and be appreciative, enjoy the process, and be grateful? Is this just a never ending game of achieving one goal an moving on to the next? I think that no matter what we do in life, whether it’s building a company, climbing the corporate ladder, raising a family, taking care of loved ones - whether you work in a corporate job, are an entrepreneur, or a stay-at-home parent, we all need to be thankful and grateful for what we have…because that’s what makes us successful.
